When fat is made cold just above the freezing point, fat cells become selectively and permanently damaged. Coosclupting treats fat cells in this new process called cryolipolysis. Once the fat cells are treated, the body clears them over the following 2-4 months. Studies show that up to 25% of fat can be removed in one treatment session. Two sessions are often recommended for the best results.
While there are many new competitors coming to the field of fat removal without surgery, Coolscupitng has the longest track record, and is FDA approved in the most treatment areas. Multi-center research has not revealed any adverse systemic effects and coolsculpting's safety record is excellent.
Coolsclupitng is best for small to medium sized excess fat in the abdomen, love handles, inner and outer thighs, bra line, arms, and chin. Typical patients want to be a little smaller but avoid surgical procedures. Patients are usually fit and of stable weight but still have small bulges no matter how much they diet are exercise.
Most patients have no downtime after a CoolSculpting body contouring treatments. Redness can persist for a couple of days. Rarely, patients experience soreness in the area for a couple of weeks or a slight temporary change in sensation in the treated area.

Kybella® Double Chin Treatment
A shot to dissolve fat offers patients a way to get rid of the double chin without surgery. Kybella, recently approved by the FDA, is an injectable that is given into the fatty tissue below the chin. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that destroys fat cells. Once the fat cells disappear, they disappear permanently.
Injections are administered in a series of 2-6 treatment sessions. During initial consultation, Dr. Kim will evaluate each patient for the least amount of treatments to give the maximum result. For most patients downtime is minimal and the injections are well tolerated. The most common side effects include temporary swelling, numbness and redness. Dr. Kim is excited to offer this new nonsurgical method of improving the moderate to severe double chin.
