Laser Treatments
Fraxel DUAL
Faxel Dual Laser: two lasers in one system. The Fraxel Dual is a revolutionary laser system using fractionated technology. With a single device, both superficial and deep skin problems can be treated. The two laser wavelengths, 1550nm and 1927nm, can be used individually or in combination to treat:
-
age spots, lentigines and other pigmentary problems
-
improvement and smoothing acne scars
-
treatment of precancerous lesions known as actinic keratoses
-
skin resurfacing to treat early wrinkling, sun damage and rough texture
The non-ablative laser treatment is done after an hour long application of a mild topical anesthetic. Unlike CO2 or fractionated CO2 resurfacing, there is no open wound care after treatment. The skin will be mildly red and slightly swollen for two days and peeling will occur on days 3 to 5. The new skin will have smoother texture, be more clear and even toned. In addition to the face, the Fraxel Dual can also be used to treat the neck, chest and hands.
The Fraxel Dual has fundamentally changed the way we approach many skin conditions. With minimal downtime and risk, pigmentary problems, wrinkles, precancerous lesions and acne scars can effectively be treated.

Fraxel CO2 Ablative Resurfacing
Fractional ablative skin rejuvenation is one of the best methods for improving sun damage, wrinkles and texture. By removing microscopic columns of tissue, collagen and growth factors are stimulated to improve the skin. Untouched skin between the columns allow for rapid healing. Patients can expect 5-6 day of social downtime and another week of light pink skin that can be covered with makeup. Texture and wrinkles will continue to improve over several months with the continuation of collagen production.
Clear + Brilliant®
Do you want to really improve the appearance of your skin with no downtime? These simple, effective gentle lasers use the fractionated technology to address the early texture, tone and pigmentary aging. The Clear + Brilliant® resurfacing treatments have minimal to no downtime and can be used in the full spectrum of skin color. The typical patient experiences a couple hours of redness followed by a couple days of a subtle sandpapery feeling to the skin. Patients then report improved smoothness, texture, tone and radiance with younger looking skin. The Clear + Brilliant® technology is the perfect way to address skin concerns without using more aggressive laser resurfacing treatments.
Vbeam Perfecta for Vascular Lesions
Vbeam Perfecta is Syneron Candela's most recent and best in class pulsed dye vascular laser. The Vbeam Perfecta can effectively treat anything vascular and red with small blood vessels. The laser selectively destroys blood vessels without damaging surrounding tissue. Included in these conditions are rosacea, red stretch marks, red scars, hemagiomas, poikiloderma and spider veins. Since the Vbeam is the most powerful pulsed dye laser, it can finish treating in the least amount of sessions. Treatments are well tolerated by patients.
Laser for Age Spots
Sun freckles (lentigines), and brown growths (sebhorrheic keratoses) can appear with sun damage and age. Our Medlite laser system specifically target these pigmented lesions for removal. The most common areas that are treated include the face, back of the hands, and chest.
Laser for Redness
A large number of patients suffer from rosacea, redness, and broken capillaries. The KTP Diolite laser is effective in treating these conditions. There is usually minimal discomfort associated with treatment. Afterwards, the patient may be slightly pink for a few hours to a day or two at most. Complications are extremely rare. Areas commonly treated include the face, neck, and chest.
Laser Hair Removal
For patients who are tired of plucking, waxing, or shaving and of getting only temporary relief from unwanted hair. Our Gentlelase system can safely and effectively remove up to 80% of your hair permanently after five monthly treatments. This laser system passes a beam of light through the skin and is absorbed by the hair bulb. Through heat, the hair bulb is destroyed. The laser also has a cryogen spray and dynamic cooling system which protects the skin throughout the hair removal process. The basic structure of the skin is left intact while the unwanted hair is removed.
The laser is only effective on hairs that are in the growing stage of their cycle. By spacing treatments a month apart, different hairs are more susceptible to the laser. The average patient needs five treatments.
Avoid plucking or waxing for 4-6 weeks before treatment. Safety goggles are given to protect the eyes during the procedure. Patients may experience a little discomfort during treatment. Topical anesthesia may be applied 30-60 minutes prior to your appointment to improve any discomfort. The time of procedure varies by treatment area. Small areas (upper lip, chin) can take as little as five minutes whereas larger areas (back, full legs) may take twenty minutes or longer. Afterwards, the area may be pink and slightly swollen for hours to a few days.
Laser Tattoo Removal
Traditionally, tattoos are considered permanent. However, the technology has been developed with lasers to remove them either fully or partially. There are many different factors involved in tattoo removal such as the quality and color of the tattoo, color of the patient's skin, and age of the tattoo. Our Medlite Nd:Yag laser system can effectively treat most tattoos in 4 to 12 treatments. Because the type and characteristics of the tattoo affect treatment outcome, a consultation with Dr. Kim will be useful to gauge expectations and treatment options.
